B i o g r a p h y
Cellist Dr. Karl Ronnevik hails from west central Minnesota, where he grew up on a farm. He began cello at the age of ten and eventually pursued studies in music and business at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. After earning two graduate degrees in cello performance at The Hartt School in Connecticut, he moved to Greensboro in 2013 to pursue his doctorate. As an orchestral cellist, chamber musician, and soloist, Dr. Ronnevik performs regularly throughout the region and has given concerts across the United States and Europe. He has shared the stage with a wide range of eminent musicians including Joshua Bell, Sting, The Eagles, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Harry Connick, Jr., Béla Fleck, Amy Grant, and Boyz II Men. Dr. Ronnevik maintains a teaching studio in Greensboro where he lives with his wife (a violist) and two children. He plays on a 2019 Jon van Kouwenhoven (Hartford, CT) cello.
